What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage, which browsers provide for storing data on your device. ToolBoxy uses a small amount of local storage for essential preferences and, only with your permission, analytics and advertising-related technologies.
Why ToolBoxy uses them
We use necessary storage so the site works (for example remembering light/dark theme and your cookie choices). With your consent we may also use analytics to understand traffic, and advertising technologies to help keep the free tools available.
Necessary technologies
These are always active and do not require optional consent:
- toolboxy-theme (localStorage) — stores your light/dark theme preference.
- toolboxy_cookie_consent (localStorage) — stores your cookie preference choices (version, categories, timestamp). No personal identifiers, email, or tool content is stored.
Necessary storage is first-party and stays on your device.
Analytics technologies
If you allow Analytics, ToolBoxy loads Google Analytics (measurement ID G-RHTL8F5ZGW) to understand page views and usage patterns. Analytics is not loaded until you accept Analytics (Accept All or via Customize). Tool input, uploaded files, passwords, JSON, images, and generated PDFs are never sent to analytics by ToolBoxy tools.
Google Analytics may set first- or third-party cookies according to Google’s policies (for example identifiers used to measure visits). Duration and exact cookie names are controlled by Google; see Google’s documentation for current details.
Advertising technologies
ToolBoxy uses a Smartlink (third-party URL) that may open in a new tab on certain explicit actions such as Generate & Download for PDF, image, QR, or converter tools. This only runs when you have allowed Advertising consent.
The Smartlink destination is operated by a third-party advertising network (profitableratecpmnetwork.com). ToolBoxy itself does not set advertising cookies for this flow on toolboxy.xyz; the third-party site may set cookies or trackers when you visit it. Banner, native, and social-bar ad formats are not used.
Preference technologies
Beyond theme and consent storage, ToolBoxy does not currently implement a separate optional “preferences” cookie category. Theme is treated as necessary.
How to change or withdraw consent
Click Cookie Settings in the site footer on any page to open preferences, enable or disable Analytics and Advertising, and save. You can also clear site data for toolboxy.xyz in your browser; after clearing localStorage the consent banner will appear again on the next visit.
Disabling a category stops ToolBoxy from initializing that optional technology on future loads. Already-set third-party cookies (for example from Google or an ad network) may need to be removed via your browser settings or the provider’s tools; JavaScript on our site cannot always delete third-party cookies.
Browser controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear site storage. Refer to your browser’s help for “cookies”, “site data”, or “privacy” settings. Blocking all storage may reset theme and consent preferences.
Third-party services
- Google Analytics — loaded only with Analytics consent.
- Advertising Smartlink — opened only with Advertising consent on selected user actions.
- CDN libraries (for example jsDelivr for YAML, Markdown, Terser on specific tool pages) — loaded only when that tool needs them; they are functional libraries, not advertising trackers.
- Vercel Speed Insights — may load when the site is served on Vercel for performance metrics.
- Hosting — standard server logs may include IP address and requested URLs as operated by the host.
