How it works

EMI uses the standard reducing-balance formula based on principal, periodic interest rate and number of installments. The result is the fixed monthly payment that covers both interest and principal over the tenure.

Useful when comparing bank offers or planning a budget before applying for a loan.

Examples

  • Principal 500,000, rate 10% per year, 5 years → EMI is calculated for 60 months.
  • Shorter tenure raises the EMI but lowers total interest paid.
  • Higher rate increases both EMI and total interest for the same principal and tenure.
