How to use the QR Code Generator

1. Choose a QR type: Text, URL, Email, Phone, SMS, Wi-Fi, vCard/Contact, or Image.
2. Fill in the fields for that type (for Image you can upload a file up to 5 MB or paste an Image URL).
3. Optionally set size, error correction level, foreground and background colors.
4. Press Generate QR, preview the code, then download PNG or SVG, or copy the payload.

How it works

ToolBoxy builds the correct payload for the selected type (for example a WIFI: string, a mailto: link, or a vCard) and encodes it with a standard QR algorithm entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server to create the code.

Image QR notes: Small images may be embedded directly when they fit the QR capacity. Larger uploads (up to 5 MB) are accepted for processing; if the image is still too large to store inside a QR, the tool asks you to use a smaller image or an Image URL instead. A QR code cannot hold a full multi-megabyte photo.

Typical uses: share a website, Wi-Fi password, contact card, or event link with a single scan.

• Wi-Fi: Enter network name and password → guests can join by scanning (device support required).
• vCard: Fill name, phone and email → scanning can offer to save a contact.
• Image URL: Paste a public image link when the file is too large to embed directly in the QR payload.

QR Code Generator FAQ

Do I need an internet connection to generate a QR code?

No. The QR code is created in your browser. You only need the network to load the page (and to fetch a remote Image URL if you use that option).

Can I create a QR code from an image file?

Yes. Upload a JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF up to 5 MB. If the encoded image still exceeds QR capacity, use a smaller image or switch to Image URL mode.

Why was my image rejected or not embedded?

Files over 5 MB are blocked at upload. Images under 5 MB may still be too large to store inside a QR code; the tool will say so and suggest a smaller file or an Image URL.

Can any phone scan the code?

Yes. Modern phone cameras and QR apps can read standard QR codes. Very low-contrast colors are harder to scan—the generator warns about weak contrast.
